1st Week of Pregnancy

First day of pregnancy is starting from the first day of your last monthly periods. When embryo is in uterus, pregnancy will be on 4th week. Because of that we can say a woman is pregnant after 4th week.

 

2nd Week of Pregnancy

First day of pregnancy is starting from the first day of your last monthly periods. When embryo is in uterus, pregnancy will be on 4th week. Because of that we can say a woman is pregnant after 4th week.

 

3rd Week of Pregnancy

First day of pregnancy is starting from the first day of your last monthly periods. When embryo is in uterus, pregnancy will be on 4th week. Because of that we can say a woman is pregnant after 4th week.

 

4th Week of Pregnancy

In this week; baby’s body height is about 1 mm.

So it is impossible to see the baby by ultrasound. And also we can’t hear baby’s heart rate. Placenta will be formed in this week.

 

5th Week of Pregnancy

In this week baby’s body height is about between 1-3 mm.

We can see baby by ultrasound. And sometimes it is possible to hear baby’s heart rate. And also on the fifth week of pregnancy, baby’s organs also start to be formed.

 

6th Week of Pregnancy

You can hear baby’s heart rate easly bu ultrasound. In the sixth week, baby’s body height is about between 4-6 mm.

The umbilical cord will be formed and also eyes, ears and mouth are going to be appear on this week. Baby’s brain is formed and show some activities.

 

7th Week of Pregnancy

In this week baby’s body height is about between 7-8 mm.

Process of forming eyes, ears, mouth and body part like arms and legs are continue in this week.

 

8th Week of Pregnancy

In the 8th week of pregnancy, baby’s body height is about 1.5 cm and body weight is almost 1 gr.

Baby’s arms and fingers are going to be appear on this week and also baby’s legs get shape, baby has conjoined fingers in this week.

 

9th Week of Pregnancy

In the 9th week of pregnancy, baby is about 2 cm and 2 gr.

This is the last week for embryonic period. After this week fetal period will be started and embryo will be called fetus after 10th week of pregnancy. This week, baby’s cartilage tissue will be formed. Baby’s eyes and tongue will be shaped. Baby’s genital organs will be shaped depend on baby’s gender but still impossible to say that baby is a gir lor a boy. Baby starts to drink firstly and his/her first drink is amnion water.

 

10th Week of Pregnancy

In this week, your baby is about 3 cm and 4 gr.

After this week, baby will be called fetus and this term will be called fetal period. Baby can move in this week in the amnion water but mother can not feel it. Seeing this moves is possible only by ultrasound. Baby takes breath but do it by amnion water. The holding reflex starts for the baby.

 

11th Week of Pregnancy

In the 11th week of pregnancy, baby is about 4 cm and 7 gr and baby’s head size is half of his/her body size.

In this week, we start to call baby as fetus. The most critical time of progressing baby ‘s organ is going to be over in the 11th week of pregnancy. Baby is the most sensitive week to medicines and drugs.

 

12th Week of Pregnancy

In the 12th week of pregnancy, baby is about 5 cm and 15 gr. All organs of baby are shaped and continue to grow. The genital organs start to be formed but these organs cannot be seen by the ultrasound.

 

13th Week of Pregnancy

In the 13th week of pregnancy, baby is about 7 cm and 20 gr.

Baby’s eyes are getting closer in this week, and also baby’s face started to look like a human face. Baby’s vocal cords started to be formed. Baby drinks the amnion water and turns this to urine. Urine mixes to amnion water again.

 

14th Week of Pregnancy

In the 14th week of pregnancy, baby is about 9 cm and 45 gr.

Baby takes breath but do it by amnios water. Baby take the water as a breath to the lung and than give it out from mouth. You can hear the heartbeat of the baby by the doppler device. Baby has very thin nails and may do thumbsucking.

 

15th Week of Pregnancy

In this week, baby is about 10 cm and 70 gr.

The thin hairs called lanugo start to cover the baby’s body and this progress continues to 26th week of pregnancy. These lanugos may be seen on baby’s face and ears for some newborn babies. Baby starts to do thumbsucking in the 15th week of pregnancy. The baby’s bones start to become stronger. Baby’s skin is so thin and he/she can partly taste the foods what mother eats. Baby’s eyelids are tightly closed and they will be closed until the last 3 months of pregnancy.

 

16th Week of Pregnancy

In the 16th week of pregnancy, baby is about 11 cm and 100 gr.

In this week, mother starts to feel the baby’s movement but if this is your first pregnancy, you may feel this about 20th week. Baby’s legs are longer than his/her arms and moves frequently. The baby’s movements are stronger than before. The area that baby moves in the uterus is larger in the 16th week of pregnancy. Baby’s nails are developed properly. Baby can hold straight his/her head. And the best part of this week, your baby’s gender can be specified by the ultrasound.

 

17th Week of Pregnancy

In this week, baby is about 13 cm and 140 gr.

From the 17th week, under the baby’s skin, oil storing increases and baby starts to gain weight faster. This oil storing is important for the baby’s heat regulation. Baby can do the reflexes like swallowing, opening/closing eyes and sucking. High noises from outside may cause baby movements.

 

18th Week of Pregnancy

In the 18th week of pregnancy, baby is about 14 cm and body weight is about 200 gr.

Fingerprints of baby’s hands and feet start to be formed. Baby’s first feces called meconium starts to pile up in his/her bowels. The baby will put out the meconium after the delivery. Baby can make hiccups, kick and swallow. Mother may feel all of these motions.

 

19th Week of Pregnancy

In this week, baby is about 15 cm and 250 gr.

When a human stays in the water for a few hours, his/her skin wrinkle. But in this week, baby’s skin is covered by a white substance like cheese. This substance protects baby from the water. Placenta continues growing and provides baby to be fed. Baby goes by REM sleep and may have dreams.

 

20th Week of Pregnancy

In the 20th week of pregnancy, baby is about 25 cm and 300 gr.

This week is the half of the pregnancy process. The baby’s hair starts growing. The thin hairs called lanugo covers baby’s body. Uterus starts to be formed for baby girls. Baby starts to breathe. The baby can hear the noises from mother’s veins and bowels.

 

21st Week of Pregnancy

In this week, your baby is about 27 cm and 350 gr.

After this week, baby’s fast growing starts slowing down. After this moment, your baby’s weightiness starts to increase faster. Baby’s legs become normal ratio to his/her body. Baby can be stay in the sitting position and turns in the mother’s belly. Baby’s head usually looks down. The baby sleeps sometimes and you can feel this.

 

22nd Week of Pregnancy

In the 22nd week of pregnancy, baby is about 28-30 cm and 430 gr.

Your baby’s eyelids and nostrils take shape. The baby’s fingerprints, eyebrows and eyelashes are completely formed. The strong outer noises cause baby to wake up. Baby gives kicks and you can feel this too often. The testicles start to move out of the baby’s body for the baby boys.

 

23rd Week of Pregnancy

In this week, your baby is about 29 cm and 500 gr.

Fetus looks like a newborn baby. His/her pancreatic gland develops.

 

24th Week of Pregnancy

In the 24th week of pregnancy, baby is about 30 cm and body weight is about 600 gr.

Baby continues to gain weight. Adipose tissue helps to regulate baby’s heat. It’s so important for the premature babies. Lung progress is faster than before from this week so babies who are born after the 24th week have a chance to survive.

25th Week of Pregnancy

In this week, baby is about 34 cm and 650 gr.

Spinal cord of baby starts to get shaped. The blood vessels of lung develop. Nostrils get opened and bones continue to take form.

 

26th Week of Pregnancy

In the 26th week of pregnancy, baby is about 35 cm and body weight is about 760 gr.

The alveoluses in the lung develop. The substance called surfactant are released and helps baby to breathe. Nails, eyebrows and eyelashes keep to lengthen. Baby can hear your noise and can feel the intensive lights.

 

27th Week of Pregnancy

In this week, baby is about 37 cm and 875 gr.

This is the first week of the last 3 months. Brain and lungs keep their development rapidly. Eyelids start to be opened. The retina layer of the eyes develop. It helps to percieve the light and transmit it to the brain.

 

28th Week of Pregnancy

In the 28th week of pregnancy, baby is about 37 cm and 1000 gr.

Eyebrows and eyelashes are completely formed and hair continue to lengthen. Your baby can identify your voice.

 

29th Week of Pregnancy

In this week, baby is about 39 cm and body weight is about 1150 gr.

The brain is improved to control the vital activities like respiration, heat. Your baby can move his/her eyes to right and left. Baby can sense the light, noise, smell and savour. He/she can move his/her head to the light. Baby pees about a half litre and this urine mixes to amnios water.

 

30th Week of Pregnancy

In the 30th week of pregnancy, your baby is about 40 cm and 1300 gr.

Baby’s bone marrow can generate corpuscle. Baby can open and close his/her eyes. The ability of breathing is very high.

 

31st Week of Pregnancy

In this week, baby is about 41 cm and body weight is about 1500 gr.

The baby gains weight faster than growing tall. The pupil (iris) expands and narrows at the light. Your baby’s skin turns to pink from red.

 

32nd Week of Pregnancy

In the 32nd week of pregnancy, baby is about 42 cm and body weight is 1700 gr.

Your baby passes 90-95% of his time’s by sleeping. His/her hair is pretty long. Skin becomes thick. The wrinkles of the face decrease.

 

33th Week of Pregnancy

In this week, baby is about 43 cm and 1900 gr.

The amnios water starts to decrease slowly after this week and it’s so normal. The development of the brain and the diameter of the head increase.

 

34th Week of Pregnancy

In the 34th week of pregnancy, baby is about 45 cm and 2150 gr.

Baby closes eyelids while sleeping and opens when he/she wakes up like a newborn baby. Immune system develops to fight the infections. The baby can hold tightly with his/her hands. If a baby borns after this week, the problems like breathing distress and others are seen barely.

 

35th Week of Pregnancy

In this week, baby is about 46 cm and 2400 gr.

Your baby’s hands and feet plump out. For the baby boys, testicles complete moving out of his body. After the 35th week of pregnancy, baby takes up much space in the uterus. For this reason, your baby cannot move so much and you feel movements of your baby less than before. If a borns as from this week, he/she won’t have breathing problems and other problems.

 

36th Week of Pregnancy

In the 36th week of pregnancy, your baby is about 47 cm and body weight is 2600 gr.

Baby starts moving to delivery canal. Mother can understand that because her belly decreases. Baby’s palate becomes hard. If a baby borns in the 36th week of pregnancy, intensive care unit isn’t necessary because your baby’s development is very well.

 

37th Week of Pregnancy

In this week, baby is about 48 cm and 2800 gr.

Your baby can make breathing exercises because the is getting close and baby should get used to breath. Baby can hold something tightly. He/she can move his/her head to light or noise.

 

38th Week of Pregnancy

In the 38th week of pregnancy, baby is about 50 cm and 3000 gr.

Your baby’s round of head equals to round of belly. In the early weeks, baby’s head was bigger than belly. In this week, there is not so much change except gaining weight. Mother and father starts to make preparation for the birth.

 

39th Week of Pregnancy

In this week, your baby is about 51 cm and body weight is 3200 gr.

From the 39th week, baby may born at any time. The lanugo hairs disappear. Your baby’s lung is ready for the delivery. Baby is congested in the uterus and cannot move easily. In this week, there is not so much change except gaining weight. Mother and father starts to make preparation for the birth.

 

40th Week of Pregnancy

In the 40th week of pregnancy, baby is about 51-52 cm and 3400 gr.

This week is the right time for delivery. Some of the babies born before this week but some of them stays in the uterus during this week and born in the 41st week of pregnancy.

In this week, there is not so much change except gaining weight. Mother and father starts to make preparation for the birth.

 

41st Week of Pregnancy

In this week, your baby is about 52 cm and body weight is 3500 gr.

Most of babies born before the 41th week but some deliveries can happen in this week. If the 41th week is passed but the delivery didn’t happen, this is called postmaturity.
