1 lb. brown rice, 3 sweet apples, 1 cup wheat germ, 2 tbsp. honey.
Steam rice until almost tender. Slice apples thin. Place wheat germ on bottom of baking dish. Add sliced apples, then add rice, and bake in moderate oven until brown. Serves four.
fruit rice pudding
4 cups parboiled brown rice, add 1 cup soaked raisins, 2 mashed ripe bananas. Sweeten to taste with honey.
Bake in moderate oven until brown. Serve with whipped cream. Serves eight. special rice pudding 1 cup brown rice, 3 large apples, 1 cup raisins, 1 quart boiling water, 3 pears, 2 tbsp. honey. Wash rice thoroughly. Pour rice into boiling water and cook until dry, stirring constantly. Wash, peel, core, and slice fruit. Warm pan and grease lightly. Put in layer of rice and then alternate layers of fruit and rice. Bake until brown or about 1 hour. Other fruit in season may be substituted. Serves six. rice fruit compote 2 apples, 2 cups brown rice, 1 cup seedless raisins, 6 black figs.
Steam rice in 2 cups of water for 15 minutes. Peel and cut up apples. Mix with raisins and cut up figs. Bake in greased pan for 20 minutes. Serve with honey and berries. Serves six. strawberry sauce Stew strawberries in small amount of water. Run the berries through a colander and add honey to taste before serving. If too watery, thicken with a little wheat germ.
